With over 10 years of experience in hospital settings, Mrs. Labib  specializes in outpatient services and customer care. Her  focus is on ensuring that every patient receives the highest quality of care and service throughout their healthcare journey.

Mrs. Marie Claire Makuza
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Coordinator

Marie-Claire Makuza is Medland Hospital’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Coordinator. Her mission as UHC Coordinator is twofold: to raise awareness in the local community so that healthcare is widely available to people of all socioeconomic statuses, and to inspire other public and private hospitals to do the same. Marie Claire has been named African Global Health (AGH) Ambassador in Zambia as well the national and international spokesperson for Medland Hospital.

Marie-Claire Makuza previously oversaw more than a hundred medical professionals as head of the Nursing Department at Medland Hospital. She ably presided over this division of the Hospital both in its infancy and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before moving to Zambia, Marie-Claire spent over ten years working as a Senior Nurse at a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona and in 1992, she received her Canadian BA from the University of Ottawa

Marie-Claire, originally from Rwanda, spent six years in Canada before moving to the United States.

Geoffrey Joseph Daka
Chief Sustainability Officer

Geoffrey Joseph Daka is a trained Environmental Practitioner in Environmental Management, Health and Safety from The University of Zambia. He has been a practicing Environmental Specialist since 2016.

The focus of his practice has been training on Best Waste Management Practices, Fire Safety Management, Infection Prevention and Control and Climate Resilience.

 Mr. Daka is privileged to have been part of the first team from Zambia and only private health facility representation to be at COP28 in UAE which was the first Conference of Parties to dedicated a day on Climate and Health.

Simwiinde Kalaula
Claims Manager

Mr. Simwiinde Kalaula is a qualified frontline clinician, a public health scientist and an insurance professional having trained at Chainama College/University of Zambia, Leeds Beckett University (UK) and The Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) respectively.

He comes with a combined work experience of over 15 years in both the hospital and insurance industry in Zambia. He heads the Claims Department of the hospital which is tasked with the day-to-day operations of our insurance and corporate clients.

He has been a member of staff since July 2019, approximately a month prior to our very first patient at Medland Hospital.

Mohammed Dakik
Admission and Discharge Coordinator

Mohammed has spent the past three years working at Medland Hospital as the Admission and Discharge Coordinator, where he oversees the intake and discharge processes, ensuring smooth patient transitions and accurate record-keeping.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science from the American University of Science and Technology in Beirut,Lebanon. With a strong foundation in both forensic science and hospital administration, Mohammed contributes effectively to the healthcare environment, applying his expertise to enhance hospital operations and patient care.

Lauren Hernandez
Digital Healthcare Manager

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Lauren is currently the Digital Healthcare Technology Manager at Medland Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Associate Degree in Marketing from Webber International University in Florida, USA.

Her career also includes over 10 years at American Airlines, where she developed strong skills in customer service and project management.

Mohammad Berro
Biomedical Engineer

With 11 years of experience in biomedical engineering, Mohammad specializes in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of medical equipment. Since graduating in 2014, he has worked extensively with advanced healthcare technologies, ensuring that hospitals and clinics operate with reliable, high-performance medical devices.

Mohammad has undergone specialized training in medical equipment management and maintenance, further enhancing his expertise in handling critical healthcare technologies. His dedication to quality service and continuous innovation ensures that healthcare facilities uphold the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency.

Ahmad Salman
Procurement Manager

Ahmad Salman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Business Administration from Beirut Arab University and has cultivated a diverse career across multiple industries, including banking, production and logistics, credit control, and stock management. With a strong foundation in business operations, he has developed a well-rounded expertise that enables him to oversee and optimize complex processes across various sectors.

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Ahmad has developed a strong ability to navigate complex business landscapes, providing valuable insights and delivering impactful results.
